iPhone 5 Launch Date

As iPhone 5′s launch date is getting nearer, more reports start knocking on our doors. This time, IDC comes to surprise us, suggesting that Apple could become the third largest mobile phone vendor, overcoming LG and staying behind Nokia and Samsung only.
The report mentions

Apple maintained its number four position overall but closed the gap on Top 5 competitors thanks to another record unit shipment quarter. The company easily posted the highest growth rate of the worldwide leaders despite the fact that its flagship iPhone 4 is now more than a year old. The triple-digit shipment volume growth allowed Apple to more than double its share when compared to the same quarter last year. Apple’s ability to bring its smartphone momentum to developing economies, where it’s less successful, will help dictate the company’s smartphone fortunes in future.
If Apple reported record sales for iPhone 4, even if many consumers were aware of the fact that the iPhone 5′s release date is near, what will happen when iPhone 5 will actually be launched? Yes, that’s right, huge sales for Steve Jobs.
You can not stop and wonder. Samsung and Nokia have so many phones in their arsenal, trying to target all types of consumers while Apple has a single name – the iPhone. Having an unisex design with simple, yet defining lines, sporting top-notch hardware performances; what more could you possibly ask for, right?
However, Google doesn’t sleep. That’s why the geniuses from the Google team officially unveiled Android in November, 2007 (only 5 months after iPhone’s release). Albeit, at this moment, there are dozens of reports, surveys and statistics, it is obvious that iPhone’s rule of the smartphone world is under serious question. While there is no other handset able to equal the iPhone (yet), there is an ever-increasing number of options.
But, when it comes down to manufacturers, it’s almost obvious that Apple will tread over LG and enter the podium. We are just one month away from iPhone 5 launch. What will the mobile industry look like after that? Will iPhone regain its magic aura or it will see previous devotees converting into avid Android fans?
